Rio de Janeiro - Paraty - Sao Paulo
After spending a few days in Rio de Janerio you might be ready to fly on to your next destination. However, after a few busy days in the lively city, why not spend a few days exploring a much quieter, relaxed and more traditional part of Brazil? During our Brazil tours in Paraty, which is one of Brazil's most charming colonial towns, you'll sail off to idyllic deserted tropical islands and beaches along the Brazilian coast. Travel back in time as you stroll along cobbled streets and take in the colonial architecture of Paraty's historic city centre. To top it all off on this Brazil tour, you can lace up your boots for some hiking or saddle up a horse to go horse riding through tropical forests along the infamous 'Gold Trail'.

This Brazil adventure tour will lead you from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo over land and by boat before finishing at the famed Iguacu Falls. Foz do Iguazu - Brazilian waterfalls - Argentine waterfalls - Jet boat safari - Foz do Iguazu
Although spending two nights at Iguacu Falls will give you a good first impression of the area, there are several reasons to spend an additional night here. One of the main reasons for staying longer is that you'll have more time to explore Iguacu's tropical surroundings. The rainforest is teeming with exotic wildlife such as capuchin monkeys, coatis, toucans and possums. The closer you get the falls, the fewer travellers you'll encounter along the way. An extra day at Iguacu will also give you an opportunity to go on a jet boat safari. It may be the tourist thing to do, but it's a unique experience that you won't want to miss. You're guaranteed front-row seats to one of the most powerful 'shows' on earth during these Brazil tours!

Brasilia

Deep in the heart of Brazil lies the nation's capital and Unesco World Heritage Site, Brasilia. This new and modern capital was built deep in the country's interior 50 years ago and has since replaced Rio as the nation's capital. The entire city was built from scratch, so understandably architect Oscar Niemeyer had a significant influence on the modern, trendy character of the city. Brasília has a very pleasant warm and dry climate and its' central location makes it an ideal hub for air travel. There's a very good chance that one of the flights of your Brazil tours will take you here anyway, so why not spend a few days exploring Brazil's unique capital? Salvador de Bahia - Itacimirim/Praia do Forte
At one point in time the Amazon jungle ended in Bahia. These days Bahia is known for its kilometres of sandy beaches and an almost African atmosphere. It's a great place for a spot of relaxation on your Brazil tours. Now and then you'll see a patch of ancient jungle in this area, but mostly the coast is just dotted with peaceful fishing villages such as Itacimirim and Praia do Forte. Itacimirim is a tiny village about an hour north of Salvador. It's beaches are peaceful; despite being in close proximity to Praia do Forte. Praia do Forte is also a small village, albeit a more touristy one. It's mainly known for it's turtle conservation project. The village's main street is a pedestrian area lined with colourful Bahian-style stores, pousadas and restaurants. Click here for more about our trip to Praia do Forte.

Tinharé is the place to be for those looking for a few fun days of sun, sea and sand. A tractor is the islands only motorised vehicle; it's used as a 'taxi' to pick up and drop off tourists. The island is scattered with coconut palm trees and the beaches are carpeted with soft white sand. The sultry sounds of the bossa nova and samba can be heard coming from the island's small bars. This Brazil adventure tour includes a day at sea. You'll sail around the island for a sweeping view of endless palm-fringed beaches, mangroves, vine forests, waterfalls and perhaps even dolphins. Natal - Praia da Pipa - Natal
Natal is a modern city in the northeast of Brazil that has also managed to maintain a bit of its' colonial flair. It's beautifully situated among white sandy palm-studded beaches. Natal is also known as the 'city of sunshine'. Its' broad sandy beaches get up to 3000 hours of sunshine each year. There's no better place to experience the Brazilian beach life feeling. After visits to the historic fortress, baroque churches and colonial buildings, you can settle down on the sands of Praia do Costeira's 5km coastline or head over to the lively beach town boulevard of Ponta Negra. A more rugged small-scale beach can be found in Pipa. The combination of Natal's cosmopolitan beach with the more 'small town' beach in Pipa makes this one of our favourite Brazil tours.
